Canvas To Concept – Series 4
Welcome to Canvas to Concept, a series where I dive into the connection between art and interior design. As a designer and decorator, I find endless inspiration in artwork, whether it’s a painting, print, photograph, sculpture, or abstract form, and I’m always fascinated by how colours, textures, and composition can completely transform a space.
I’ll choose a piece that resonates with me and translate its visual language into a concept board, showing how artistic elements shape the mood, depth, and personality of an interior. The right piece of art doesn’t just complement a space, it grounds it, creating a sense of cohesion, balance, and purpose.
This series is more than just a creative exercise, it’s a celebration of artistic exploration. I love working with a range of styles, and this process lets me discover and highlight incredible artists and products along the way. Experimenting with different aesthetics brings me so much joy, and I can’t wait to share this journey with you.
To make the experience even more immersive, we’ve woven in a custom intro composition that sets the tone for each concept. Through animation, a static board comes to life, creating a dynamic visual story. And with an atmospheric soundtrack, each piece becomes even more engaging, deepening the connection between art, mood, and design.
Continue to join me to see how design and space can be shaped through an artistic lens!
There’s a quiet beauty in the windswept dunes of South Australia, a soft palette of blush sands, weathered greens, and tidal blues that gently draw you in. In this piece by local South Australian artist Suzie Riley, we’re transported to a hidden stretch of coastline near Long Gully, a favourite spot for fishermen, four-wheel drives… and those who simply love the stillness of nature.
Inspired by the mood of the painting, we’ve created a sunroom that feels grounded and refined, a considered blend of coastal calm and tailored comfort.
Textural layers like woven rattan and botanical prints hint at the native landscape, while soft blues, whitewashed timbers and scalloped forms echo ocean sprays and shoreline flora. The overall look is coastal, but not beachy, inviting, but not informal.
This space is designed to feel serene year-round, fresh in summer, cosy in winter, with a timeless palette and gentle rhythm that feels like an exhale.
Inspired by what you see? Let’s bring your space to life through thoughtful, art-driven design. Whether you’re starting fresh or looking to reimagine an existing space, We’d love to help shape an interior that’s as unique and layered as you are.
