The vision for this expansive four-bedroom coastal home was to create a sophisticated yet deeply welcoming retreat designed for short-term stays—one that felt less like a holiday rental and more like a beautifully considered home away from home.
With the capacity to comfortably accommodate larger groups, the design needed to balance practicality with atmosphere. Generous communal living was central to the brief, with an oversized sofa and substantial dining setting thoughtfully selected to encourage gathering, connection, and long, relaxed evenings shared together.
The home already offered a strong architectural foundation, with a neutral palette and beautiful Spotted Gum flooring grounding the interiors. Rather than leaning into a literal interpretation of coastal design, we took a more layered and refined approach—drawing on the feeling of coastal living rather than its clichés.
A nuanced palette of warm neutrals, soft off-whites, powder blue, navy, muted greys, and touches of ochre introduced warmth, depth, and quiet personality throughout the home. Rich textures, organic forms, and subtle botanical references softened the spaces, creating interiors that feel relaxed, soulful, and effortlessly inviting.
Beyond furnishing the interiors, the project involved the complete curation of the guest experience. Every detail was thoughtfully considered—from furniture, lighting, and soft furnishings through to crockery, cutlery, cookware, towels, entertainment, and practical essentials—ensuring guests could arrive and settle in with ease. Outdoors, a spa created a welcome moment of indulgence for adults, while a cubby house offered something equally memorable for younger guests.
The result is a coastal retreat that feels warm, elevated, and exceptionally liveable—an experience designed not simply for accommodation, but for connection, comfort, and lasting memories.
