Set against the tranquil backdrop of West Lakes, this multi-room transformation was designed to bring clarity, warmth, and purpose to a home that no longer reflected the way our client wanted to live. Spanning the primary suite, guest bedroom, home office, and expansive open-plan living spaces, the brief called for a contemporary aesthetic that felt minimal yet inviting—beautifully resolved, highly functional, and grounded in thoughtful, sustainable choices.
The home’s original palette felt disconnected from its surroundings, with warm vanilla walls competing against cooler flooring and the natural light beyond. A complete repaint became the first step in establishing cohesion, introducing a softer, weathered white through the shared living spaces that immediately felt calmer, fresher, and more aligned with the architecture.
Within the primary bedroom, the mood shifted entirely. Wrapped in a rich moody blue, the space was transformed into a restful retreat, layered with custom detailing and thoughtful storage. A bespoke window seat with integrated drawers maximised functionality, while carefully selected furnishings, textiles, and lighting elevated the room into something far more intimate and refined. A vibrant custom artwork provided a striking counterpoint, bringing personality and softness to the otherwise cocooning palette.
Elsewhere, the design embraced the stories already present within the home. In the guest bedroom, an existing upholstered bed and intricately carved timber trunk—passed down from the client’s mother—were thoughtfully incorporated, lending warmth, character, and a sense of continuity. The home office was similarly reimagined as a space that felt inspiring rather than purely practical, balancing function with softness and colour.
The open-plan living areas underwent the most significant transformation. In the kitchen, subtle but impactful updates—including refinished cabinetry, stone detailing, and new lighting—introduced texture and sophistication without requiring a complete overhaul. Adjacent dining and living spaces were carefully configured to better support the client’s lifestyle, from everyday meals and entertaining to quieter moments at home.
A particular focus was placed on creating softness within the expansive open-plan footprint. Layered rugs, sculptural furnishings, carefully curated artwork, and full-height wave sheers introduced texture, movement, and warmth, while still allowing the lake views to remain a defining feature.
The result is a home that feels calm, contemporary, and deeply liveable—an elegant transformation that balances restraint with personality, and functionality with quiet beauty.
