Our task was to decorate a newly built townhouse in the trendy industrial development of Bowden, tailored specifically for a bachelor as the sole occupant. The project encompassed the decoration of the downstairs living area, including the lounge, dining, and kitchen space, as well as the master bedroom. With a blank canvas at our disposal, we had the opportunity to create a cohesive and personalised design.
Embracing the client’s desire for a modern minimalist aesthetic, we set out to create a moody, modern, industrial vibe. Our goal was to minimise clutter and ensure that every element served a purpose. To incorporate the client’s passion for music, we designated a prominent wall joining the dining and lounge room to showcase his collection of guitars. Five brass hooks with wrapped leather were installed, transforming the guitars into striking pieces of art. Additionally, we painted a feature wall spanning 12 meters in gray with a subtle undertone of blue, creating a cohesive connection between the dining, lounge, and kitchen areas.
To anchor the lounge room, we selected a dark brown 3-seater leather sofa with a chaise and metal legs. A timber oak entertainment unit with black accent legs provided a sleek storage solution. A graphic rug grounded the space, while four floating shelves with oak timber and black metal flanked either side of the TV. Working around the client’s existing coffee table, we added a velvet ottoman and cushions for a touch of luxury. A cool marble and black metal floor lamp completed the look. Custom sheer curtains spanning from floor to ceiling added a touch of elegance.
In the dining room, we chose a circular concrete top table with oak legs, paired with khaki leather-look dining chairs featuring skinny black metal legs. For the kitchen island, we selected oak bar stools with tan leather seats, combining style and functionality.
Working with the client’s existing Jarrah coloured bedroom timber suite, we incorporated its clean lines and high-quality craftsmanship into the new decorating scheme. To elevate the space, we dressed the bed with new bed linen and added a subtle graphic wallpaper behind the bed. Marble and metal lamps provided warm lighting, while a large-scale graphic art piece of Ray Charles paid homage to the client’s love for music and guitars. Custom curtains spanning from ceiling to floor and wall to wall added a luxurious touch.
