Bright & Inviting Glenelg Apartment

Our clients, empty nesters who recently relocated from Darwin to Glenelg to embrace a more relaxed lifestyle, faced the challenge of making their new apartment functionally and aesthetically appealing. The space felt tired and outdated, with limited storage options. Additionally, they desired to repurpose an underutilised room into a versatile space that could serve as both an office and a guest bedroom. This room was initially separated from the rest of the apartment by a fixed sliding door, and the clients sought greater flexibility, allowing the area to be fully opened when not in use as a guest bedroom while still maintaining privacy options for their visitors. To achieve this, the fixed sliding door was removed and replaced with a soft screening element.

To create a cohesive ambiance throughout the entire apartment, we began by selecting vinyl planks with a timber oak look. This choice not only provided a solid foundation for the overall design scheme but also offered a practical and durable solution for the clients, including their adorable Boston Terrier who shared the space with them.

Our next focus was the custom joinery design spanning the length of the lounge space. Considering the limited visual bulkiness allowed in this area, we prioritised ample storage along the lower half and seamlessly matched the wall colors for a harmonious blend. Complementing this design, floating shelves in a wood tone were integrated to follow the lines and length of the room, directing the gaze toward the captivating views outside the window.

In the guest bedroom, we crafted a combination of an office nook and storage cabinetry, providing the clients with a discreet storage solution while offering their guests sufficient space to stow away belongings during visits. Given the apartment’s small footprint, this design element proved crucial. The study nook took center stage in the room, adorned with tropical palm print wallpaper—a gentle nod to the clients’ life in Darwin.

To complete the transformation, we introduced a new paint color, contemporary furniture pieces, and beautiful soft furnishings in hues of blues, greens, neutrals, and coral. We artfully combined the clients’ existing art collection with our own thoughtful additions, ensuring a harmonious fusion of personal and curated elements.

The end result is nothing short of a complete metamorphosis, both in terms of appearance and atmosphere. Each space now exudes purpose and beauty, providing the clients with a renewed sense of joy and satisfaction.

Client Testimonial :

“Right from our initial phone call contact Lisa made us feel comfortable and listened to our ideas and thoughts. Lisa’s vision and concept drawings clearly demonstrated that she understood how we wanted our apartment to look and function. The whole process of design, choice of colours and materials was done with an excellent attention to detail and creativity. Lisa was able to source our flooring, curtains, cabinetry and lighting and then help us with the final styling features. Working with Lisa was an absolute pleasure as she was so professional. Not a day goes by when we don’t say “Wow – how great does this look!” Thankyou Lisa for helping us achieve our vision. We would highly recommend Lisa as an interior designer and decorator. ”
